11:00 - 17:00 2nd September 2026

Wollerton Old HallMore InformationGarden open for charity
Four acre garden created around C16 house (not open). Formal structure creates variety of gardens each with own colour theme and character. Planting is mainly of perennials many in their late summer and early autumn hues, particularly the asters.
Created 40 years ago around a Tudor house (not open), this quality garden has been extensively filmed by all major TV channels and also Japanese TV.
Designed by the owner, Lesley Jenkins, this outstanding garden combines a strong structure with clever planting combinations using perennials. The early spring shows of anemones, hellebores and trilliums are followed by tulips, aquilegias and oriental poppies. The summer roses herald the arrival of the delphiniums which in turn give way to the dominance of stately hollyhocks and vibrant phlox. August sees the hot garden ignited which still burns when the asters and euonymus seed capsules arrive in September.
Featured on Monty Don's British Gardens- Ep3 (2025).

A relaxed, friendly way to meet lots of single people in one night! When you hear speed dating, it can sound a bit intense and maybe even a little daunting.
But the reality?
It’s just a room full of single people in the same position as you.
Some have been single a while.
Some are newly single.
Some haven’t dated in years.
Everyone is simply there to chat, meet new people, and see what happens. What makes our events different?
We’ve been running these events for over a year and a half now, and we sell out almost every single time. That means on the night, you can expect:
* Around 16–18 men and 16–18 ladies
This isn’t one of those events where you turn up, and the numbers are off. We carefully manage the balance so everyone gets the same experience.

Wem Town HallMore InformationWem Civic Society to Host Wem Heritage Day
Offering local people and visitors the opportunity to discover more about Wem’s history and share their own family stories.
The day will include talks, opportunities to contribute memories, a guided heritage walk and two exhibitions exploring Wem’s experiences during the First and Second World Wars.
Talks at Wem Town Hall
The programme at Wem Town Hall begins at 9.30am, with two talks exploring different aspects of Wem’s heritage.
One of the talks will provide an update on the Wem: Memories of War (WWI & WWII) project and share some of the fascinating stories about Wemians that have been uncovered through the research.
The audience will also have an opportunity to contribute. Anyone with memories or stories about relatives who experienced either of the two World Wars is encouraged to come along and share them. Wem Civic Society is particularly keen to hear from local people who may have photographs, letters, documents, memories or family stories connected with the two World Wars. Even small pieces of information can help build a fuller picture of Wem’s wartime history.
There will also be an update on plans to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of Wem in 2027, an important milestone in the town’s history.
Guided Heritage Walk
At 2pm, a guided walk around Wem will explore stories connected with the two World Wars while following the route of the Wem Heritage Trail, which is soon to be established.
Places on the walk are limited and booking is essential.
Two Heritage Displays
Two displays will support Wem Heritage Day and will be available to view from 4 September to 26 September:
• Wem Library – an overview of the First and Second World Wars.
• Wem Town Hall Gallery – a Wem-specific view of the two World Wars.

Nr ShifnalHills Ford Stages Rally Festival Comes to Weston Park to bigin a weekend of rally
10:00 - 19:00 19th September 2026

More InformationOne of Shropshire's newest sporting events roars into life on Saturday 19 September as the inaugural Hills Ford Stages Rally Festival arrives at Weston Park.
The Rally Festival forms the opening day of the Hills Ford Stages Rally weekend, beginning with the ceremonial start in Shrewsbury before around 150 rally crews head to Weston Park to tackle four spectacular special stages, including the famous Weston Park Water Splash, with almost five hours of thrilling rally action.
There's much more than motorsport too. Visitors can enjoy local trade stands, food and refreshments, family attractions, the PATHWAYS – Discover Motorsport education zone, the DriveWize road safety initiative, and opportunities to meet the volunteers who make rallying possible.
The rally continues on Sunday 20 September with a full day of closed-road competition across five stages in South Shropshire, each run twice, as crews battle for overall victory. This year's event welcomes competitors from eight rally championships, featuring everything from iconic historic rally cars to the very latest Rally2 machinery. Several championships feature double-header rounds, while others reach their season finale at the Hills Ford Stages, where national championship titles will be decided.
As a not-for-profit event, spectator parking at Weston Park is managed by local charities and community groups, with all parking donations going directly to support their work.
Advance tickets are available for the Weston Park Rally Festival on Saturday 19 September. Sunday's closed-road rally uses separate spectator viewing areas, with parking available at designated locations. Details of spectator areas and parking for Sunday will be published closer to the event on the Hills Ford Stages website and Facebook page.

at Hermon Chapel
OswestryLights Out Events - Present Berlinda O'Hooley
20:00 - 22:30 24th September 2026

More InformationLights Out Events are pleased to be hosting Belinda O’Hooley, a renowned pianist, singer and composer, probably best known as one half of O’Hooley & Tidow, who rose to international prominence for writing and performing the theme to the hit TV series Gentleman Jack(which also led to an acting role for Belinda on the iconic TV drama Happy Valley). Formerly a member of Rachel Unthank and the Winterset (now The Unthanks), Belinda has performed with her partner Heidi Tidow to a very appreciative audience at the Hermon Chapel before in 2018. Drawing on her heritage in the west of Ireland, Belinda’s music showcases her unique ,minimalist and deeply expressive style. The first woman in her family to reclaim a previously all-male tradition, she has found the freedom to interpret the music of her ancestors in her very own, singular way.
Belinda is also known for her inventive, minimalist, sometimes flamboyant accompanying of folk luminaries including Rufus Wainwright and Nic Jones. It promises to be a great night's entertainment. -

atThird Class - A Titanic Story
19:30 - 20:45 1st October 2026
More InformationA one-man theatre show based on the life of Titanic survivor, Edward Dorking.
Edward was openly gay and on Wednesday, April 10th, 1912, he set sail for NYC on a ticket bought for him, by his parents in the hope his American family could put him 'right'.
Third Class charts Edward's journey from boarding the Titanic to swimming for 30 minutes towards an already full, collapsable lifeboat and how he, upon arriving in New York would tour the Vaudeville circuit, recreating the stories for a fact-hungry public.
But Edward didn't want fame; he wanted revenge.
When everyone was talking about the deaths of millionaires and society figures, few were discussing the people who took the lion's share of the losses that night: the third class.
Using music, movement, projection, and historical facts, Third Class tells the story of an unknown hero from a well-known story.

Halls Auction CentreMore InformationLong-forgotten stamp collections are set to be valued at an upcoming Shropshire event, which also aims to attract existing and budding philatelists.
The Shropshire Philatelic Society is hosting its annual Stamp and Postcard Fair on Saturday 3rd October at Halls Auction Centre in Battlefield, Shrewsbury. Last year was among its most successful, attracting established collectors of stamps, postal history, and postcards, and those interested in starting the hobby from across the Midlands and beyond.
Also invited are those who may have a collection in their home gathering dust, perhaps handed down from a relative and now in long-term storage.
Society president Nick Webb said: “We know there are plenty of attics and cupboards out there containing stamp collections which may include valuable items. Often, these albums are handed down from generation to generation, but it’s easy to forget about them over time.
“Not only could finding them out and bringing them to the Fair prove useful for their owners, but it also means we may uncover rare or unusual stamps which have unknowingly been hidden away for many years – or even decades.
“The day is also the ideal opportunity for those considering stamp collecting as a hobby to come along and find out more. The great thing about stamps is that you can build a collection based around almost any theme you can think of – so people already interested in anything from art to astronomy, or science to sports, can build albums based on their existing passions.”
Open from 10am to 4pm, there will be 12 dealers on hand to meet attendees, alongside Halls valuation specialist Andy Neal.
Shropshire Philatelic Society was founded in 1947 and meets twice a month, with external speakers, an annual competition, and displays of members’ own material – which includes postcards and postal stationery as well as stamps.
