Darker Tales & Fairy Stories for Grown Ups...
All good stories get better the later and darker it becomes.
Join storyteller Gav Cross and perhaps a late night ghost or two.
Certainly a twist on some old classics.
Almost certainly a smile.
Perhaps a nervous glimpse over the shoulder?
As we scratch our way into the darker routes of the stories we think we know.“Gav Cross treats children like they're horrible and adults like they're children and the results are hilarious and magical. Gav brings energy, joy and a refreshing approach to traditional storytelling, getting the audience involved and keeping them on their toes with the unexpected twists and turns of his tales.”
Larmer Tree FestivalThe audience were hooked by every word as they were led a merry dance through stories.”
Pound Arts“... just on the right side of darkly comic... ”
Bluecoat, Liverpool“A masterclass of storytelling!” ****

Becki Biggins Live

ShrewsburyBecki Biggins Live
19:30 - 22:00 5th May 2026

More InformationMulti-Award-Winning Singer-Songwriter Becki Biggins Returns to Shrewsbury this Friday for a Homecoming Show
A special evening of live music comes to Shrewsbury this week, as multi-award-winning British singer, songwriter, and saxophonist Becki Biggins takes to the stage at The Trinity Centre.
Performing on Friday 8th May, Shropshire-born Becki brings a captivating mix of well-loved songs alongside her own original material, blending classic songwriting with heartfelt storytelling. With influences including Carole King, Carly Simon, and Karen Carpenter, her music offers a timeless, lyrical quality that resonates deeply with audiences.
Becki said: “This is a show for anyone who enjoys real entertainment. I’m joined by a fantastic band, and I can’t wait to bring this concert to a home crowd.”
Becki’s musical journey began at a young age when she first experienced the power of live sound in a band rehearsal by school band, Adjazz, from the Thomas Adams School in Wem. By 12, she was touring internationally, performing at Mardi Gras in New Orleans a year later, and completing 24 gigs in 21 days before turning 17.
Her early career saw her win the Daily Telegraph Young Jazz Competition, the National Festival of Music for Youth Composition Award, and Marlborough Jazz Best International Newcomer. She went on to collaborate with legendary producer Paul Hardcastle, co-writing and performing on three albums that all reached #1 on the U.S. Smooth Jazz Charts and remained there for over a year. The first of these, Hardcastle 5, entered the Billboard Top 200 and contributed to Hardcastle being named Billboard Smooth Jazz Artist of the Year.
Becki’s latest material, produced by Matt Butler (Paul McCartney, Steve Harley), showcases her signature blend of warmth, wit, and emotional honesty — exploring themes of love, loss, and the quiet poetry of everyday life.
Now based in the Forest of Dean with her husband and two sons, Becki continues to write and perform music that connects with audiences through its sincerity and storytelling. She puts on a great show!

An Art & Storytelling Pilgrimage with ancient pathways of Goddesses of Love and WarStep into the timeless pathways of the Goddesses of Love and War. Journey with sacred archetypes — from Inanna, Ishtar, and Astarte, to Aphrodite, Venus, Britannia, Mother Mary, and Mary Magdalene — as they rise, transform, and offer their wisdom as they evolve across civilisations.
Associated with the planet Venus and the Feminine Mysteries, this pilgrimage invites you to trace their ascent through mythical storytelling, symbol, and inner communion. Each archetype reveals a gate, a stage of growth, a reflection of the Divine Feminine in motion — teaching courage, love, creativity, and the reclaiming of Sovereignty.
Through art, storytelling, symbology and sound, you are guided on a journey not only through history but into yourself, encountering the sacred dance between Feminine and Masculine principles. This is a path of integration, the sacred marriage of wisdom and embodiment, an invitation to rise, evolve, and reclaim your own inner Sovereignty. -

Together for fifty-six years now, Steeleye Span changed the face of folk music forever by taking it into the world of gold discs and international tours. Now they return with Conflict, their first full studio album in over five years. All traditional singers have sung modern and self-composed pieces alongside old songs, Conflict is an album that follows in that very tradition. The album’s title was chosen as much to reflect the times we find ourselves in, but also the stretch and tear of our relationship with this planet that hosts us.The band will undertake a full UK tour in support of Conflict, where they will be joined by recent member Athena Octavia – part of indie folk band Iris & Steel and an acclaimed classical violinist. As ever – and with such a rich history to choose from – the night will offer a selection of songs from across the years and albums, coupled with firm fan favourites. Led, as ever, by Maddy Prior, Andrew Sinclair, Roger Carey, Liam Genockey, Julian Littman and Athena Octavia.

10:00 - 14:00 13th May 2026
More Information🌿 Walk for Wellbeing: Long Mynd & Lightspout Waterfall
Join us for a refreshing guided hike across one of the most spectacular landscapes in the Shropshire Hills — where sweeping hilltop views, hidden valleys, and cascading waterfalls create a truly unforgettable outdoor experience. This walk is part of the Walk for Wellbeing programme, delivered in collaboration with Lingen Davies Cancer Support. It is specifically designed for people living with cancer, those currently in treatment, individuals in recovery, and cancer survivors across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales — and is completely FREE.
The aim of these walks is to create a safe and welcoming space where participants can enjoy movement, fresh air, and the restorative benefits of nature alongside others who understand the cancer journey.
Starting from the beautiful Carding Mill Valley, we’ll follow scenic valley trails before climbing into the dramatic landscape of the Long Mynd. Along the way we’ll explore hidden waterfalls, peaceful upland valleys, and one of the highest viewpoints in the Shropshire Hills — all while walking at a supportive group pace.
This is more than just a hike. It’s a chance to reconnect with nature, build confidence outdoors, and spend time with people who share similar experiences — with no pressure to share, just a shared understanding.
🌄 What to Expect
Our walk begins in the picturesque Carding Mill Valley, where a stony track follows the gentle stream flowing through the valley — a calm and scenic start to the day. From here we venture into Lightspout Hollow, a dramatic narrow valley that leads to the beautiful Lightspout Waterfall. Those feeling adventurous can scramble alongside the waterfall for a fun and memorable challenge, while others can follow the main path for a steadier ascent.
As we climb higher onto the Long Mynd plateau, we’ll make our way to Pole Bank, the highest point of the Long Mynd at 517 metres. From here you’ll enjoy expansive views across the Shropshire Hills and toward the valleys of Wales on clear days.
We’ll then descend via The Burway, one of the most iconic hill routes in the area, offering sweeping panoramic views as we return toward Carding Mill Valley.
The walk will be supportive and steady-paced, with plenty of pauses to take in the scenery and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
☕ Optional Coffee Shop & Social
After the hike, you’re warmly invited to join us for an optional drink or lunch at the National Trust Cafe in Cardingmill Valley. There’s absolutely no pressure to stay, but many people enjoy the chance to relax, warm up, and continue chatting after the walk.🌟 Why Join?
This isn’t just a walk — it’s an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in a welcoming and supportive environment.⛰️ Explore the dramatic landscapes of the Long Mynd

More InformationFollowing the release of his acclaimed album For The Love of George on Dark Horse Records, guitarist Robin Nolan brings his new live show to Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury on Friday 22nd May, celebrating the music of George Harrison and The Beatles.
The album was recorded at Harrison’s home, Friar Park, and created with the support of the Harrison family. Featuring performances on George Harrison’s own guitars, the project offers a rare and deeply personal connection to the late Beatle’s musical world.
Now as part of a major UK wide tour, Nolan brings that project to the Theatre Severn stage in a dynamic live setting, blending Harrison’s iconic songs with his signature gypsy jazz style, alongside select original compositions and Django Reinhardt-inspired material.
Recognised as one of the leading figures in modern gypsy jazz, Nolan has performed at major venues including the Royal Albert Hall and Montreux Jazz Festival, and was personally invited by Harrison to play at Friar Park.
The trio features internationally acclaimed musicians Chris Quinn and Tom Moore, delivering a fresh, melodic and highly accessible take on Harrison’s catalogue — from well-loved Beatles songs to deeper cuts.

OswestryLights Out Events - Present Joe Topping
19:03 - 22:00 31st May 2026

Oswestry Cricket ClubMore InformationDescribed by Sir Tom Jones as “a Weaver of Dreams”, Joe Topping is a folk singer and multi instrumentalist from Liverpool whose singing and guitar playing regularly moves listeners to tears. His charismatic stage presence and engaging stories have entertained audiences all over the country and all across Europe, including live sessions on BBC Radio 2, ITV Television, The National Film Awards and a showcase at SXSW in Texas.
During the Covid pandemic, Joe was asked to enter ITV’s The Voice and, seeing it as fun challenge to do while the rest of the music industry was shut down, decided to give it a go. Joe reached the semi-finals and his audition alone has reached nearly 1 million views on YouTube!
Joe Topping - The Voice
He grew up listening to the Irish and American folk songs that his father sang at the folk club that he ran for several decades. So Joe was constantly surrounded by traveling musicians passing through and who often stayed at the house.
These troubadours, along with the literature of Steinbeck, Kerouac and W. H. Davies gave Joe a wanderlust for the open road and a passion for folk music…
…Especially the music that told a story…That could make you laugh or cry, or could put you in touch with your own empathy for your fellow man.
Today, Joe channels these very qualities into his own music. He aspires to create songs that resonate with listeners on a profound level, aiming to forge a shared connection and foster a sense of community among his audience. Guided by values of kindness, love, and social activism, Joe's music endeavours to contribute to a better world in every way possible.
