This is writer and broadcaster Chris Eldon Lee’s latest comic play – following speedily in the wake of ‘Atlantic Ladies’ – and it’s been 50 years in the making.
In the glorious summer of 1969, Shrewsbury was limbering up to challenge the rest of Europe in the biggest, most watched and most ridiculous TV game show of all time – ‘It’s A Knockout’ (‘Jeux Sans Frontieres’).
Over 100 million people tuned in to see our antics in the hotly contested final against the mighty Germans. It was a night shrouded in controversy and confusion. People still argue about the outcome!
It’s the (mostly) true story of silliness, skulduggery, scandal and sensational sploshes (with just a dash of danger) that made the whole of Shropshire proud…complete with a poignant love story to tug at the heart strings.
Shrewsbury’s Finest Hour’ comes from Love Lee Productions – whose previous shows include ‘Silhouette’, ‘Arthur’s Plough’, ‘Shakespeare’s Will’, ‘Ursula, Queen of the Jungle’ and ‘Atlantic Ladies’.
