Anglo-Scandinavian duo ‘May Monday’ are the mesmerising UK accordionist Karen Tweed and the sublimely subtle Finnish pianist Timo Alakotila.
They weave intricate, haunting melodies into vivacious tapestries of sound, mixing musical styles in innovative ways. Each is a hugely respected musician in their own right.
Karen’s numerous collaborations over the years include the Poozies, Kathryn Tickell Band, SWAP, Two Duos Quartet and many more.
Meanwhile Timo is in constant demand the world over as a composer, arranger and performer. His career began in 1982 as harmonium player in the legendary Finnish fiddle group JPP. His many projects since have embraced traditional, jazz and classical music and resulted in numerous recordings.
Together Karen and Timo have released 3 fine albums. Their first was BBC Radio 3 presenter Fiona Talkington’s Album of the Year.
