This workshop begins with an introduction to lino cut carving and the importance of working safely with the tools. You will learn about basic equipment, materials and the printing process,and how this can be accomplished with minimum expense. Moving on to composing your own 2 colour design, you will then carve your design into the lino in 2 stages, printing each colour separately. You will learn how to accurately register your lino when printing one colour over the other to achieve an accurate 2 colour image.
Samuel Johnson-Squire is an Illustrator, photographer, and editor with a degree in graphic design and illustration from the University of De Montfort. He works in multiple disciplines including printmaking, lino cuts, stencils, line drawing, and animation. Samuel is inspired by his world travels and documents his adventures in photography, detailed drawings, and prints. He has worked on design and video projects for Network Rail, MIND, Majestic Films, Young Curators and CAST performing arts.
