Mary is known for her landscape oil paintings and has recently been recording derelict farm houses and old buildings in her nearby North Powys. “Homesteads where families lived for generations but which were left behind. The roof falls in and wildlife takes shelter, so nature reclaims places which people have abandoned. The glory of historic landscape lives on in oil paintings.”
Maggie says “I love the world around me – things natural, shapes and lines, and impressive artistic architecture. There’s no hidden message in my art, which simply seeks to show what’s lovely about our surroundings.” Recent work ranges from almost-abstract landscapes of Wales & Shropshire to mischievous angels (inspired by the tympanums of French Romanesque churches), and wintery, atmospheric Prague.
Mary & Maggie are taking turns at working (painting) at the gallery during the exhibition. Come and look, and chat – and buy if you’d like.
