Pipe Aston, Ludlow SY8 4ED
Mortimer Forest has a lovely mixture of well established woodland including some mature and even ancient Oak trees, Birch and Beech Copses plus plenty of Larch and Pine trees. This wide variety of trees gives us a very diverse selection of mushrooms to talk about throughout Autumn.
Situated on the outskirts of Ludlow, food capital of Britain, there’s no better place to learn about the finest, culinary, wild food.
These Autumn Fungi Foraging courses will be roughly a 2.5 hour walk around Mortimer Forest where we will identify a selection of edible and poisonous wild mushrooms and plants. We’ll stop for some tasty homemade refreshments along the way such as our wild mushroom soup, fruit leathers or even some elderflower champagne.
We will finish the day off with a lovely wild food lunch based on what we have found. This will include some treats made from our recent finds, a wild salad we’ll pick on the day and a mushroom dish that we’ll cook in front of you.
We will email all of you details of the mushrooms we find to help you remember what you have learnt.
