A chance to meet up with like minded people at the weekend.
A facilitated session making dangerous pockets will launch our Craft at The Weekend Programme. It is free to come along just drop in between 10-1pm
It is inspired by the poem Dangerous Coats by Sharon Owens which speaks to the laws prohibiting women from having pockets in their coats where they could hide seditious propaganda about women’s suffrage.
There only 2 rules for the pockets. They should be made from recycled materials and they need a tabs, grommets, or casing in which the cord is passed so the pockets can be displayed like bunting.
There are contributions coming in from all over the world. Some speak to women’s rights, some to women’s issues (for example pockets made from half bras as a nod to women who’ve had mastectomies. Some are memories of mothers and grans made from old aprons.
Just join the craft table all abilities and capabilities welcome.
This is a monthly drop in meet-up 2nd weekend of every month with different activity at each. 10-2pm drop in. Meet ups start on the 11th May
