The Andrew Logan Museum of Sculpture in Berriew, welcomes The Derek Harrison Band on Saturday 22 June 2019.
Stunning boogie piano will meld with Fats Waller influences as Derek (Piano / Vocal) amusingly reflects on his New Orleans, Los Angeles and QM2 experiences and brings stardust Jazz Standards to twinkle the exhibits at ALMoS. Stuart Tanner on bass, dynamic drummer Graham ‘Rockit’ Ashley and, bringing his Chet Baker and John Coltrane influences, trumpeter Stan Williams complete this versatile swinging line-up. Also included is a light supper of Gumbo and Cornbread.
“This is a completely new line-up for the Museum”, said ALMoS administrator, Anne-Marie Pope, “I can’t wait to hear all Derek’s stories, the amazing playing and the fantastic food – it will be a wonderfully entertaining evening.”
The Derek Harrison Band will play at 8.15pm, shortly after doors open at 8pm. Join us for an 8 mile sponsored walk along the Welshpool canal for the children and families of Hope House!
The walk is free to enter, open to all and a fabulous day out for the whole family. There is no minimum sponsorship, but we do ask all our wonderful walkers to raise as much as you can to help us continue to be here for the children in our care.
We will start at 10am outside the Hope House shop in Welshpool (at the top end of the Tesco car park) and walk to the halfway point of The Horseshoes Inn at Berriew where you will be able to buy bacon butties to fuel your way back to the finish line and your hard-earned medal. Registration opens at 9.30am.
The incredible Teresa Thomas, one of our Hope House mums, organised our first ever Welshpool Canal Walk in 2016. After she sadly passed away in 2017, we have continued her wonderful legacy by walking in her memory ever since. We invite anyone who is up to the challenge to step out with us in memory of Tease, as she was affectionately known, and walk in her footsteps. You are also very welcome to join us to walk in memory or celebration of your own loved ones or simply for the children of Hope House.
