Mortimer Forest covers 1000 hectares of diverse mini habitats, with ancient oak, conifer woodland, beech, birch and plenty of bilberries. This wide variety of trees gives us a very diverse selection of tasty edible mushrooms throughout late summer and autumn.
We’ll meet at the Black Pool car park where the course starts with a short introduction on what to look for and a brief of the general countryside codes.
Then we’ll set off on a roughly 2.5 hour walk around the forest, teaching you how to identify the different edible and poisonous plants and mushrooms we find, stoping along the way for some seasonal homemade refreshments such as our lovely wild mushroom soup.
We’ll round the day off with a wild food lunch based on homemade treats and what we have found during the course.
After the course, we will email you a list of everything we talk about on the day to help you to remember what you have learnt.
Adults £50, under 16’s £25, under 12’s free.
Please see our website page for full details of times and further course dates at this venue.
