Whitchurch Walkers in Shropshire will be holding their annual walking festival again , from Friday 8th of May to Sunday 10th , this year will be our 8th . Once again we offer a full range of walks over the weekend varying in distance from local history walks of 1 – 2 miles to our Whitchurch Wheel walk of 15 miles . So named after the towns long association with cheese making. Evenings aren’t left out either , on Friday night we have a film called A Woman at War which tells the story of one woman’s battle against a large Aluminium company in Iceland . There is also a folk session in a local pub , which people can join in with or just listen . Saturday night is our Ceilidh ( or barn dance ) night when we once again have local band Jigsmith to play for us . Sunday is finished off with a get together with free refreshments at our base for the weekend The Archiebald Worthington club . Cholmondeley Castle Gardens is said by many to be among the most romantically beautiful gardens they have seen. The Castle is surrounded by sweeping lawns and a variety of mature trees. The gardens provide a lovely mix of colour and height, with intriguing walks around the lake. There is a Temple Water Garden, a Rose Garden, with over 350 roses and a 100m long double herbaceous border.
The Plant Fair runs from 10am- 5pm. The plant fair is handily placed right next to the tearooms serving coffee, light lunches, homemade teas, ice creams and snacks. Dogs on leads welcome in the gardens.
