Wings over Whixall – An Illustrated Talk
Natural England Volunteer Warden Barry Probin will be celebrating the many invertebrates that can be seen throughout a typical year on Fenn’s, Whixall & Bettisfield Mosses National Nature Reserve, such as the Emperor Moth, White-legged Damselfly and many more.
Barry will be giving some tips about where we can see and photograph the more treasured species. These will include dragonflies, damselflies, butterflies and Moths. Some are particular to the National Nature Reserve site and therefore classed as rare.
A gifted amateur naturalist and photographer, Barry will illustrate his talk with photographs that he has taken in every area of the Mosses. Having fallen into ditches, crawled through undergrowth and endured rain, snow and shine, he has a story to tell.
Many of the butterflies illustrated are under threat nationally; the National Nature Reserve at Fenn’s, Whixall & Bettisfield Mosses provide a haven for them. One that is open for us all to enjoy.
