‘Out of the Wood’ at the Bleddfa Centre’s apple orchard is a contemporary sculpture exhibition bringing together 13 invited artists from Wales and England. The premise of the exhibition is a simple one – each participating artist was given a length of birch cordwood (4 feet long x 4 inches diameter) to utilize as they felt appropriate after visiting not only the exhibition site but also the source of the donated birch – the nearby Castlering Wood.
The resulting exhibition features a diverse and exciting collection of contemporary artworks by artists interested in the possibilities of making sculpture from a singular unit of wood as the start point.
The exhibition was made possible by the Knighton Tree Allotments Trust who kindly donated the birch cordwood.

Broseley’s amateur dramatics group brings us another hysterically funny comedy from the Farndale Avenue suite, penned by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jnr
BroADS presented us with the ladies’ version of Macbeth a year or two back.
This one orbits around the efforts of the Townswomen’s Guild’s efforts to mount a sci-fi thriller: in their usual hopeless and hilariously funny fashion of course.
“They came from Mars and landed outside the Farndale Avenue Church Hall in time for the Townswomen’s Guild’s coffee morning”
The comedy itself is not a long one, but what a title!
Laugh yourselves silly at Broseley’s Birchmeadow. Tickets available from October 1st at Downes’s in Broseley High Street or via our website.
We can hardly wait until the BroADS crew heads out to the launch pad and the Red Planet. The countdown’s begun, and the excitement’s building.
Broseley’s amateur dramatics group, Directed by Kate Harris, brings us a hysterical Farndale Avenue comedy … another ACE by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jnr.
“They came from Mars and landed outside the Farndale Avenue Church Hall in time for the Townswomen’s Guild’s coffee morning” is the title … nearly as long as the first act !
One wonders just how the Guild is going to make out this time – hilariously incompetently, no doubt.
