Entry to this Plant Hunters’ Fair at Alderford Lake (formally Dearnford Lake) is completely free and offers the opportunity to pop along and visit many specialist nurseries at no charge to get your gardening season off to a great start. The plant fair has a brilliant line up of nurseries from across the country.The nursery folk will be more than happy to give you the benefit of their experience in how to plant and care for the plants you buy so you can get the best from them. The weekend kicks of at 9:00 when Sam Phillips (Chairman of Walkers are Welcome, Whitchurch is a member town) will officially start the activities ,
Over the weekend we are offering a programme of 25 walks exploring the varying countryside around our market town, walks vary in length from 2 miles, to the 18 miles Whitchurch Wheel so named due to the towns long association with cheese, we have walks utilising canal boats , a poetry walk , railway heritage walks a rail ramble etc. so something to suit everybody.
Evenings are not forgotten with a film on Friday night , as well an open folk music session in a local pub, The Old Town Hall Vaults (Edward German was born here) this is open to all to join in playing or singing.
Saturday evening we are holding a Ceilidh with popular local band Jigsmith and to finish off the weekend on Sunday a free get together at the Archie with tea & cake or something stronger.

This, our 6th festival, has been organised by our Walkers are Welcome in Whitchurch Steering Group which includes representatives of Whitchurch Walkers, Shropshire Council and Whitchurch Chamber of Commerce
We will be providing 3 days of walking opportunities and activities that will provide you with the opportunity to explore Whitchurch and the surrounding countryside. There will be a variety of interest walks ranging from WW1 to poetry and nature walks. Evening entertainment will include a film and a Folk session on Friday evening as well as a Ceilidh for everybody to have an enjoyable evening on Saturday.
